How Your Donations Will Help
There are many people in Bucks County who are classified as “food insecure”. According to the USDA, the defining characteristic of food insecurity is that, at times during the year, the food intake of household members is reduced and their normal eating patterns are disrupted because the household lacks money and other resources for food. About 10% of the population in Bucks County struggles with food security.
According to Food and Agriculture Organization, approximately 40% of food in the US goes to waste. And the Green Restaurant Association states that a single restaurant in the US can produce approximately 25,000 to 75,000 pounds of food waste in a year.
Bucks County Food Runners wants to be that link between edible food supplies and the agencies that serve those families who need help finding their next meal. We are merely connecting the supply with the demand.
